Pole Dance - Aerial Arts - Exotic Dance - Burlesque

Jamilla is a professional dancer.  She has danced for much of her life, starting with classical ballet and later jazz ballet, and African dance (also called African Ballet).

She has also trained in trapeze, corde lisse (aerial rope) and tissue (aerial silks) and continues to train in the latter to this day.   She was one of the aerial performers at the opening of the Olympics in Sydney in 2000, and also performed corde lisse (rope) at the Synergy & Chaos III National Circus and Theatre Conference at the Brisbane Powerhouse.

Around the same time Jamilla became an exotic dancer.  Using many skills she had already developed through her aerial training, Jamilla transferred her knowledge from trapeze and tissue to pole dancing.

Within the space of a few years, Jamilla became one of Sydney's leading pole dancers, working at first in Sydney but also touring the country, featuring as a showgirl and star of pole dancing in some of the biggest and best clubs in Australia: Crazy Horse in Adelaide, Men’s Gallery Melbourne, and Club International in Cairns.

In that time Jamilla won an array of titles, including:

Miss Nude NSW 2003 Hottest Dancer

Miss Erotica Sydney 2004

Miss Nude Sydney 2004

Miss Nude NSW 2004 Beauty Queen

Miss Nude Australia 2005 Entertainer of the Year

Australian Exotic Pole Dancing Champion 2005

Since late 2002 she has been teaching pole dancing for men and women, beginners through to intermediate levels and advanced, as well as striptease and lap dancing.  For more than two years Jamilla taught pole dance classes as well as lap dance and strip tease at Bobbi's Pole Studio in Sydney, but since early 2006 she has branched out from Bobbi's on her own, refining her own brand of training in lap dancing, striptease and pole dancing.

Most recently, Jamilla founded the International Pole Federation, an organization governed by a board of some the world's best pole dancers whose vision it is to uphold the ideal of pole dancing as an art form in itself, as well as to support the growth of the industry through maintaining quality and standards in classes, resources and events.

To this end, Jamilla travelled to Las Vegas in January 2007 to meet with one of the world's most famous and accomplished pole dancers, Fawnia Mondey-Dietrich, as well as other world renowned pole dance instructors, Mary Ellyn Weissman and Katie Coates.

2008 brings Jamilla to the world stage; teaching tours are planned for Las Vegas, USA, as well as Singapore and New Zealand.

She has also performed in the world of burlesque, joining Sydney's most famous duo Sarina and Lorelei on stage on several occasions, including the Burlesque Ball and as a soloist at Dr Sketchy's Anti-Art School (Grand Opening, Sydney).

Jamilla is the creator of the Art of Pole® brand of pole dance courses and the new DVD series which is in release internationally at www.artofpole.com, as well as Tease ~ Daring Dance Routines, an instructional DVD with a focus on four classic exotic dance routines.

Jamilla's vision?  Not only to dance her whole life, but also to support and maintain the highest standards in pole dance teaching and performance.

“Pole dancing is an art form, something beautiful and inspiring, which contains elements of sensuality and theatricality through athletic and sensual movement, music, costume and sometimes even striptease.
That, whole package, is what makes it an art in itself.”
